Opening of „denk.mal Hannoverscher Bahnhof“ Memorial

The opening ceremony for the memorial “denk.mal Hannoverscher Bahnhof” took place on May 10th 2017. Over 500 guests were present, including witnesses, representatives of Holocaust victims’ organisations, and the mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz. In cooperation with representatives of Holocaust victims’ organisations, VOGT designed the memorial at the historic site. Between 1940 and 1945, over 8000 Jewish, Sinti and Romani people were deported from the former Hannoverscher Bahnhof. Twenty trains took them to ghettos and concentration camps. The memorial is composed of twenty glass panels, standing on the historic platform, to commemorate the children, women, and men who were deported.
